Sex Racket Busted in Gwalior Hotel; Undercover Cop Exposes Operation

Gwalior – A sex racket operating from a posh hotel in Gwalior’s Kailash Vihar area was busted by the police during a late-night sting operation. The racket was uncovered at Hotel Haveli Inn, where women from various parts of India—including Darjeeling, Siliguri, Meerut, and even Nepal—were reportedly forced into prostitution.

Acting on a tip-off, CSP Hina Khan planned a sting operation, sending an undercover policeman to pose as a customer. The cop handed over ₹1,000 to a female agent from Nepal, Anita Sunar, who then showed him a photo album and arranged a meeting with a woman. Once the transaction was confirmed, the cop messaged the team, and a police raid followed at 2:22 am.

During the raid, seven sex workers were rescued. Two customers were caught red-handed in the hotel rooms, while the main accused, hotel operator Deepak Sharma, managed to flee. The women, hailing from West Bengal, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh, told police they had taken up the work due to financial hardship. They said they were initially lured with job offers but were later forced into the trade.

Police registered an FIR against Deepak Sharma, customers Nitin Verma and Saurabh Verma, and agent Anita Sunar under relevant charges. The building where the hotel was being run is owned by Aman Mawai and was rented out to Sharma, though the owner has not yet been named an accused.

The investigation revealed that the women were paid ₹700 per customer, while the clients were charged between ₹1,000 and ₹1,500. Even basic amenities like food and water were charged to the women.

According to the police, Deepak Sharma boasted of his “setting” with officials and claimed he had protection, stating, “Do whatever you want, no one will touch you.”

Authorities are now probing deeper into the network and are also questioning claims about bribes and alleged protection.
