Gwalior, April 9: The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Gwalior and 30 other districts in Madhya Pradesh. The heat intensity is rapidly increasing in the state, with temperatures crossing 43°C. On Tuesday, Gwalior recorded a maximum temperature of 41.9°C, while it touched 43.2°C in Guna and Narmadapuram. A yellow alert has been issued for the next two days.

Yellow Alert in These Districts Including Gwalior:
Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Shivpuri, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Sagar, Damoh, Jabalpur, Mandla, Seoni, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Ujjain, and Agar-Malwa are also under heatwave threat.

Relief Expected on April 11-12:
According to IMD Bhopal, weather conditions may change on April 11 and 12. Due to western disturbances and cyclonic circulation, cloud cover and light rain are expected in 30 districts, including Gwalior, Indore, Ujjain, and Jabalpur. This may bring a slight drop in temperature.

Gwalior’s April Weather Trends:
Looking at data from the last 10 years, temperatures in Gwalior have reached 45°C by the end of April. By the fourth week of April, even nights start getting warmer, with minimum temperatures ranging between 27-30°C. The Gwalior-Chambal region is particularly prone to heatwaves.

Severe Heat Likely in April-May:
The weather department predicts that hot winds may prevail across the state for 30 to 35 days during April and May. Gwalior and the entire Chambal division may witness frequent heatwave conditions. Experts say this year’s temperatures could break previous records.

Precautions Advised:
Given the heat and heatwave risks, health experts advise avoiding sun exposure during the day, drinking plenty of water, and wearing light clothing. Special care should be taken for children, the elderly, and the sick.
